THE STORY BEHIND THE BRAND
The idea did not come from having everything together.
It came from seasons of pressure, loss, broken relationships, criticism, starting over, and learning what it feels like when people you once trusted no longer see you the same way.
Joel has experienced friendships ending, relationships falling apart, death to people close to him, accusations, misunderstandings, and the pain of watching people he cared about become distant almost overnight. Some chapters may never come with an apology, an explanation, or the closure you hoped for.
That kind of loss changes you.
But sometimes strength is not about proving your side to everyone. Sometimes it is knowing your truth, making peace with what you cannot control, and refusing to let someone else’s version of your story determine what comes next.
Not every battle needs an audience.
Not every accusation deserves control over your future.
Not every chapter gets the final word.
Moving forward does not mean pretending it never happened.
It means carrying what you learned, accepting what you cannot change, and choosing what you want to write next.
FAITH & A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE
Faith became an important part of Joel’s journey, but so did learning to look at his experiences differently.
Over time, he began to see the chapters behind him not simply as things to carry, but as experiences that could shape perspective, create meaning, and help someone else feel understood. The setbacks, losses, relationships, lessons, and new beginnings all reinforced one belief. What happened before can be part of your story without deciding what comes next. That idea became Newly Written a clothing and storytelling brand built around real experiences, honest conversations, and the belief that one difficult chapter does not have to define the whole story.
Once you replace it, leave that section alone. That’s the cleaner version we want.
WHY NEWLY WRITTEN
What began as an idea for meaningful clothing became something bigger. Joel wanted Newly Written to create space for real stories involving resilience, faith, mental wellness, second chances, rebuilding, and starting again. That vision also became The Still Here Project a place for real people to share experiences without needing a perfect ending. Newly Written may have started with part of Joel’s story but it was always meant to make room for yours.
A NOTE FROM JOEL
When I first imagined Newly Written, I thought I was creating a clothing brand. I eventually realized I wanted to create something people could genuinely connect with. I know what it feels like to lose people you thought would always be there. To be misunderstood. To want closure you may never receive. To sit quietly with a truth you wish everyone understood. But I have learned that peace does not always come from being heard by everyone. Sometimes it comes from knowing who you are and choosing to keep moving forward anyway. That is what Newly Written means to me. If something we create helps one person feel seen, starts one meaningful conversation, or gives someone the courage to keep writing their own story, then this brand is doing what I hoped it would do. Thank you for being part of it.
For the stories still being written.
STILL HERE. MORE TO WRITE.
